Thomas Mettke was born in Dresden on 13 November 1939. He studied law and legal history in Cologne and Munich.
Between 1969 and 2004 Thomas Mettke was corporate counsel of Allgäuer Alpenmilch GmbH, of Nestlé-Alete GmbH, Nestlé Nutrition GmbH and Nestlé Deutschland AG, and at the same time a lawyer admitted to practise before the Regional Courts I and II of Munich and the Higher Regional Court of Munich.
1990-1995 advisor to the European Commission on food legislation in the European single market; chairman of various business and trade associations, including of the legal committee of the nutrition association (Diätverband) and of the working group on the food industry at the Chamber of Commerce (IHK) of Munich and Upper Bavaria.
Thomas Mettke is a member of the legal committee of the leading association of the German food sector (BLL), an advisor of the Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft für Lebensmittelrecht, an advisory board member of the journal on food law "Zeitschrift für das Gesamte Lebensmittelrecht," and deputy chairman of the committee on the law on pharmaceuticals and food of GRUR, the German association for industrial property rights and copyright.
He has published numerous articles and speeches, taking into particular account the legal and social history of food supplies.
As of counsel to the law firm, Thomas Mettke devotes his attention to selected client matters. He is consulted by national and international food industry enterprises with regard to fundamental issues and can rely on a wealth of experience in the food industry.
Thomas Mettke also advises clients of the law firm on all issues that depend on his substantial knowledge of the market and its participants.
